The job of an event planner is varied and exciting, with a wide variety of events to organize from lavish weddings, to business conferences and even children's birthday parties. Those with a knack for organizing and who love working with people may have what it takes to be great event planners.
Many event planners start their own businesses, where they manage events on their own or organize small teams to do so. There are no specific qualifications needed to be an event planner, but most planners choose to focus on a specific area of expertise. Whether it is creating small and charming weddings or luxury business getaways, specialization seems to be a popular way to go for those starting their own event planning companies. It is possible to be a generalist as well, but focusing on a specific type of event makes it easier to promote your business.
